Joy Carroll, Ed.D.
LifeLine Center Executive Director
Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Teacher
Dr. Carroll is a psychologist and educator with over thirty years experience in clinical and academic settings. For a number of years, she served as a teacher and school psychologist in public schools and adjunct faculty for universities in graduate and undergraduate psychology and education programs. At local and national conferences and system-wide school in-services, she has conducted professional development training on education and pediatric mental health issues.
Dr. Carroll is the Executive Director of LifeLine Learning Center and LifeLine Counseling Center. She serves in a consultative capacity in the Learning Center and regularly leads parenting classes and social skills classes for children.
She received her doctoral degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Tom Denkinger, B.A. Teacher
Director of Education
Mr. Denkinger is an educator with over seventeen years teaching experience in a variety of academic settings. His work includes administrative and faculty positions in college preparatory schools with a reputation for excellence and challenging academic programs. At the prestigious Asheville School identified by U.S. News and World Reports as one of the nation's leading secondary schools, Mr. Denkinger was a member of the mathematics faculty and served as head boys basketball coach.
As Director of Education for LifeLine's Learning Center, Mr. Denkinger coordinates the tutoring program and other academic services. He also serves as a mathematics and sciences tutor for students in grades 5 through college and adult learners.
He received his bachelors degree from the University of Vermont and completed graduate course work at the University of Virginia.

Dawn Melton, B.S. Teacher
Tutor
Ms. Melton is a teacher with twenty-seven years experience teaching gifted children and students of all ages with special academic needs. In addition to her work with LifeLine Learning Center, she is a homebound teacher with Blount County Schools working with students in the home environment. At LifeLine, Ms. Melton tutors students in grades K through college and adult learners. She also teaches study skills classes for middle school and high school students.
She received her Bachelors degree from Carson-Newman College.

Bethany Maynes, B.S., M.Ed. Teacher
Tutor
Ms. Maynes is a teacher with experience in public schools and in private preschool programs. In addition to her work with LifeLine Learning Center, she is an intervention tutor for Middlesettlements Elementary School with the Blount County School system. Her training includes the use of multiple intelligences concept which utilizes multiple teaching methods for varied learning styles. At LifeLine, Ms. Maynes tutors students in grades K through 8th grade.
She received her bachelors degree from the University of Tennessee and her masters degree from Lincoln Memorial University.
